"Morning" sickness? Yeah, right!

So, I've heard some people say that while their morning sickness consisted of nausea, they never threw up. I was hoping that might be the worst I'd get it. If only!

And why do they call it morning sickness? For the past few days, I've been sick every time of day EXCEPT the morning. I've already had to call in sick to work once and left early today after puking in the store's bathroom (I'd puked at home right before leaving for my shift, so I let my supervisor know I'd still come in but might need to leave early today). I told my boss I'd understand if he decided the job wouldn't work out for me because of what I'm going through, but I'd like to work 4 days a week instead of 5 as long as this morning sickness lasts, hoping that extra rest might be helpful in getting me through the shifts I do work. Guess we'll see.

Sorry Debra but the "morning" sickness is just one of the joys attached with becoming a mom. I wont tell you that I was one of those people who had the nausea without much puking. I did find that if I tried to do too much in the morning before eating a few crackers it was a lot worse. I could not even take a shower without having something in my system. Try eating smaller meals all day long. I think I have hear that peppermints help some people. Good Luck and We are all so excited for you! I know you did not want to tell anyone yet but I am glad it is out because now I dont have to worry about my kids spilling the baby news.

I just threw up as a show of solidarity.

what helped me was that i could only stomach a small amount of food at a time, and i started from when i first woke up in the morning. i'm pretty sure the sickness has something to do with blood sugar...i think i read that somewhere. anyway, good luck! i hope it doesn't last too long!

Congratulations! I also found that small snacks helped keep nausea at bay. Also Tums.

If your nausea/vomiting is really bad, they do have medication you can take during pregnancy. Your OB can address that, though.

Yay! You're nauseated! Yay! That's GOOD!

With mine I'd be nauseated all day long for the first trimester and then boom, gone. Never nauseated enough to throw up though. Just nauseated enough that escalators were torture.

Citrus fruits and juice and graham crackers my friend.

I was nauseated ALL DAY LONG! I wished that I would throw up. But don't worry, it passes. You probably won't ever feel like running a marathon but you will feel better eventually. Love ya Debra! I'm so happy for you!
